DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Cusco
The Inti Raymi Machu Picchu Trip begins as soon as you arrive at Cusco airport any time before noon. Please provide us with your flight details for a seamless pickup and transfer to your designated hotel. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to rest and acclimatize to Cusco’s elevation (3,400 meters above sea level). In the afternoon, your city tour will commence at 1:30 p.m.
For the city tour, we will pick you up from your hotel and embark on a guided journey. You will visit six notable sites (admission to archaeological centers and museums included). The itinerary includes the Main Square, the Cathedral, and the Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun). We will also guide you through archaeological sites such as Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.
The tour concludes around 6:30 p.m. at the Main Square, allowing you to dine at one of the exquisite local restaurants. Overnight accommodations are provided (meals not included).
Our Recommendations:
- Take a leisurely stroll through the Plaza de Armas and its surroundings, where you can admire the craftsmanship of Cusco’s artisan shops.
- Indulge in the renowned Peruvian cuisine at nearby restaurants or unwind on the Plaza de Armas benches. Capture the warm afternoon vibes despite Cusco’s chilly nights with a memorable photo.
- If you enjoy nightlife, the square is surrounded by numerous nightclubs and bars, bustling with tourists and locals looking to enjoy good music and drinks.
Day 2: Inti Raymi Tour
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m., followed by a short 10-minute walk to Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun of the Incas, where the Inti Raymi celebration begins.
At Corikancha, the ceremony lasts about one hour, after which we’ll proceed to the Main Square for the second part of the festivities. We’ll then head to the main event at Sacsayhuaman, located 3 km north of Cusco. The celebration concludes at 3:30 p.m., after which we will return to Cusco and transfer you back to your hotel.
Day 3: Machu Picchu Trip by Train
After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Ollantaytambo train station. From there, you will travel approximately two hours to the charming town of Aguas Calientes. A 25-minute bus ride will then take you to Machu Picchu—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, enjoy a guided tour lasting about 2-3 hours. Following the tour, you will have free time to explore independently. Once your exploration is complete, head back to the train station as your train departs between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., bringing you back to Cusco by evening.

WHAT TO BRING?
For a multi-day trip to Machu Picchu by train, ensure you pack these essentials:
Many travelers find that a small or medium-sized wheeled suitcase is ideal, as it fits well within our private vehicles’ storage capacity. Regardless of your choice, remember you’ll need to manage your luggage on your own, whether handling it at airports, navigating hotels, or walking short distances. We generally suggest you pack as lightly as possible. Additionally, don’t forget a backpack for activities and day trips. Most airlines impose a 20kg weight limit on checked baggage.
Alongside the typical items and attire for any journey, consider these travel-specific packing tips:
ESSENTIAL:
- Closed shoes are vital to protect your feet from cuts and scrapes in urban areas or natural terrains, and they offer a safeguard against rare bites or stings.
- Sun protection essentials: hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
- Original passport; ensure it’s stored in a dry and secure place while at Machu Picchu.
- Extra cash in Soles, preferably in smaller denominations for souvenirs.
- Camera for capturing memorable moments.
- Sunscreen and insect repellent.
- Sunglasses.
RECOMMENDED:
- Digital and hard copies of critical documents like plane tickets, passport, vaccination certificate, etc., and keep printed copies separate from the originals. While not valid, copies significantly ease obtaining replacements if necessary.
- Water bottle with at least 1.5-liter capacity. Reducing bottled water usage helps address global environmental concerns, as making a 1-liter bottle requires 2 liters of water and 200 ml of oil, contributing to landfill overflow and pollution.
- Electrical adapter plug.
- A personal medical kit is essential. Your guide will have a large kit, but we suggest carrying items like mild painkillers, electrolytes, and band-aids.
- Fly spray.
- Use a clock/alarm or smartphone for waking up and keeping time.
OPTIONAL:
- Earplugs to guard against potential roommate snoring.
- Phrasebook.
VALUABLE ITEMS:
Avoid bringing unnecessary valuables and utilize your hotel safe. Consider purchasing a money belt or pouch that is easily concealable.
LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Laundry services are available in many hotels and cities en route, though a two-night stay may be necessary to ensure items are returned on time. Typically, hotels charge per item, while laundromats operate by weight, often costing around $2 per kilo.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE TRIP
