Travel isn’t just about the places you see; it’s about the people you share them with.

At SPT Travel & Tours, we believe you should never feel like just a number in a crowd. That is why we have designed the Cusco Imperial Tour to be intimate, engaging, and personal.

The «Small Group» Advantage

We deliberately cap our groups at a maximum of 8 to 10 participants. Why does this matter?

  • Personal Connection: With fewer people, you have more time to interact with your guide, ask burning questions, and truly connect with your surroundings.

  • Agility: Small groups move faster and more easily through busy sites like Machu Picchu, giving you more time to enjoy the view and less time waiting around.

  • New Friends: It is the perfect size to swap stories and make lifelong friends with fellow travelers from around the world without feeling overwhelmed.

🗣️ Led by Local Experts

Your guide can make or break your trip—so we only hire the best. Our tour leaders are not just «guides»; they are local ambassadors who are passionate about their heritage.

  • Knowledgeable: All our guides are professionally trained and licensed. They go beyond the guidebooks to share accurate history, local legends, and deep cultural insights that bring the Inca ruins to life.

  • Safety First: Your well-being is our priority. Our team is trained in first aid and mountain safety to ensure your journey is as safe as it is exciting.

  • Friendly Faces: We pride ourselves on having a team that is approachable, patient, and fun to be around.

Join us for a memorable exploration where you are the guest of honor, not just a tourist.

Please be aware that the 5-day Cusco Imperial Tour is non-refundable and immutable. No refunds are given for cancellations or changes. This strict policy ensures seamless organization and a consistent experience for all participants. For full details, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.

Got questions? We have answers! Here is everything you need to know to book your Cusco Imperial Tour with confidence.

🏔️ Health & Acclimatization

Q: Will I get altitude sickness? A: It is possible, but manageable! Cusco sits at 3,400m (11,150 ft). Most travelers feel a bit short of breath the first day. We design our itinerary to help you adjust: we pick you up, offer you Coca Tea (a natural remedy), and keep the first day’s activity light.

  • Tip: Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals on arrival, and rest.

Q: How difficult is the walking on this tour?

A: We rate this tour as Moderate. While you don’t need to be an athlete, you should be able to walk for 2-3 hours at a time. Please note that Inca sites (especially Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu) have uneven stone steps and some steep inclines. Comfortable walking shoes are a must!

🎟️ Booking & Logistics

Q: How far in advance should I book?

A: As soon as possible! Tickets for Machu Picchu (Circuit 2) are in high demand and limited by the government. We recommend booking at least 2 to 3 months in advance to guarantee your preferred dates and train times.

Q: Can I join the tour as a solo traveler?

A: Absolutely! We welcome many solo adventurers. You can choose to be paired with another traveler of the same gender (subject to availability) or pay a single supplement fee to have your own private room at the hotels.

Q: Are flights to Cusco included?

A: No, domestic and international flights are not included. You will need to purchase your own flight tickets to arrive at Cusco Airport (CUZ). We will handle the rest—from airport pickup to drop-off!

🎒 Packing & Luggage

Q: What do I do with my big suitcase when we go to Machu Picchu?

A: The trains to Machu Picchu have strict luggage limits (max 5kg/11lbs). Don’t worry! You can leave your large suitcases safely in the free storage at your Cusco hotel or our office. You only need to pack a small overnight bag/backpack for the night in Aguas Calientes.

🥗 Food & Diet

Q: I am vegetarian/vegan/have allergies. Can you accommodate me?

A: Yes! Peru is very accustomed to dietary needs. Please let us know your restrictions when you book. We will inform your guide and ensure there are options for you.

  • Note: Breakfasts are buffet-style at the hotels with plenty of options. For lunch and dinner (which are not included), your guide can recommend excellent restaurants that fit your diet.

🏛️ The Experience

Q: Is the climb to Huayna Picchu Mountain included?

A: The standard package includes the entrance to the Machu Picchu Citadel (Circuit 2). The hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain is an optional extra that requires a separate permit. If you want to do this hike, please let us know immediately so we can check permit availability for you.

Q: What is the weather like?

A: The Andes are unpredictable!

  • Dry Season (May – Oct): Sunny days, very cold nights.

  • Wet Season (Nov – April): Warmer nights, but rain showers are common.

  • Golden Rule: Dress in layers and always carry a rain poncho!
