WHAT TO BRING?
Embarking on our 6-Day Cusco Amazon Adventure offers unparalleled experiences rich in culture, history, and natural wonder. As you prepare for this exciting journey, you’ll want to pack wisely to fully enjoy everything from the enchanting ruins of Machu Picchu to the lush Amazon rainforest.
While some travelers prefer a compact wheeled suitcase for ease of movement—perfectly fitting into our private vehicles—it’s essential to remember you’ll be managing your own luggage. Whether you’re navigating bustling airports, arriving at your charming hotel, or strolling through vibrant markets, your luggage will be with you every step of the way. With that in mind, we advise packing lightly. A trusty backpack will be your companion for day trips and excursions. Keep in mind, most airlines allow a maximum of 20kg for checked luggage.
Aside from regular travel clothes and items, consider these tailored packing tips to elevate your experience:
ESSENTIAL:
- Closed-toe shoes are pivotal for keeping your feet safe, whether you’re exploring historic cityscapes or wandering through mesmerizing forests. They also offer protection against the occasional bite or sting.
- Sun protection is a must! Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and polarized sunglasses to shield yourself from the sun’s rays.
- Keep your original passport secure and dry, especially during your visit to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu.
- Have some extra Soles in smaller denominations on hand; they’re perfect for picking up unique souvenirs from local artisans.
- Capture stunning memories with a good-quality camera; the vistas are truly unforgettable.
- Sunscreen and insect repellent are your skin’s best friends, offering much-needed protection.
- Sunglasses
RECOMMENDED:
- Keep electronic or paper copies of all critical documents—tickets, passport, vaccination records—and store them separately from the originals. Copies make replacing lost documents far smoother.
- An eco-friendly water bottle of at least 1.5 liters is advisable, as bottled water production demands large amounts of resources and contributes to environmental issues.
- Don’t forget an electrical adapter plug to keep your devices powered up.
- Personal medical kits are vital. Beyond the comprehensive kit your guide carries, pack essentials like mild painkillers, electrolytes, and band-aids.
- Fly spray
- A mobile phone or clock is invaluable as both an alarm and a keeper of time during your journey.
OPTIONAL:
- Earplugs can provide peaceful sleep, helping you drift off despite any neighboring snores.
- A phrasebook can enhance interactions with locals, allowing deeper cultural immersion.
VALUABLE ITEMS:
Minimize bringing non-essential valuables and use the hotel safe when possible. A discreet money belt or pouch is also a smart investment.
LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Laundry facilities are widely available in the hotels and towns you’ll visit. Planning a two-night stay allows ample time for laundry services. Hotels usually charge per item, while local laundromats typically offer a per kilo rate—around $2—making it an affordable choice.
Ready to dive into the vibrant heart of Peru? This journey is not just a trip—it’s an unforgettable adventure awaiting your discovery!

Additionally, be advised that these tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. If you decide to cancel your tour from Cusco to Machu Picchu, please be aware that the deposit is non-refundable. We recommend confirming your plans before booking to avoid any potential inconveniences.
IS MY ORIGINAL PASSPORT REQUIRED FOR THIS TRIP?
Bring your original passport for Machu Picchu and reservations. If renewing, use old passport details to secure clearance. Updating to your new passport in our records incurs a $25 fee. Keep a copy of the old passport, or bring both to Peru to avoid the fee. You’ll need both passports for entry into Machu Picchu and for boarding the train, so ensure all documentation is in order.
UNDERSTANDING ALTITUDE SICKNESS AND ITS PRECAUTIONS.
Altitude sickness is a potentially serious condition that can occur at elevations above 2,500 meters, affecting individuals regardless of their physical fitness. Recognized risk factors include a prior history of altitude sickness, engaging in physical exercise, or consuming alcohol before adequate acclimatization. Individuals with respiratory health issues are particularly vulnerable. We strongly urge you to consult with a healthcare professional before your travels for personalized medical advice. Additionally, ensure your insurance covers emergency evacuation at high altitudes and any associated medical expenses.
CONSIDERATIONS FOR MEALS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TRIP:
On this excursion, allocate between 25 and 50 USD per day for meal expenses. Below is a general breakdown of expected costs:
– Breakfast: If not included in your stay, expect to spend around $5-$10 at a cozy local café where you can savor the rich local flavors.
– Lunch: Plan to set aside $5 to $10 at a local eatery offering set menus or opt for a sandwich and a drink from a charming coffee shop. More tourist-centric restaurants may range from 10 to 15 USD.
– Dinner: Our tour leaders and local chefs recommend a selection of reputable local restaurants where you can safely indulge in delectable regional specialties. Entrée prices typically range from $12 to $25, allowing you to relish the region’s culinary delights.
Bear in mind these are estimated figures and actual prices may vary based on personal preferences and specific locations. For travelers on a tighter budget, more economical dining options may be available; however, quality can vary.
