Visiting the rainforest requires a few extra precautions compared to the mountains.

• Yellow Fever: While not always strictly checked at the airport for short tourist visits, it is highly recommended that travelers visiting Puerto Maldonado and the Amazon basin be vaccinated against Yellow Fever at least 10 days before travel. • Machu Picchu: The train has strict weight limits. You will leave your main suitcase in your Cusco hotel storage and take only a small overnight bag.

• The Amazon: Similarly, for the boat transfer to the lodge, we recommend taking a smaller bag and leaving large hard-shell suitcases in the secure storage at the Puerto Maldonado office (or Cusco hotel, depending on your flight logistics). Our team will organize this for you.

💧 Water Safety

• Tap Water: The tap water in Peru is generally not safe to drink. Please stick to bottled, filtered, or boiled water.
