Inti Raymi is the most spectacular Inca celebration in Cusco, held annually on June 24th in three distinct stages, the most significant of which occurs on the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman. This location is accessible by car or on foot. The festival aligns with the winter solstice and the harvest season. Known as the Festival of the Sun, Inti Raymi is presided over by the Inca and his entourage, serving as the grandest tribute and worship of the sun.
During this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the Inti Raymi festival, along with the natural and cultural highlights of the Cusco region. The Inti Raymi festival is an annual event where locals celebrate with a grand and colorful ceremony in honor of INTI, the Sun god. «Inti Raymi» is a Quechua term that translates to «Sun Feast.»
This festival marks the beginning of the Andean year, symbolizing the sun’s return from the shortest day towards summer, a time when fields become more fertile and animals can find abundant grass to graze.
